In Dubai summer an AC that blows warm air becomes urgent within hours. Some causes are simple enough to check yourself in a few minutes; others need a technician with gauges and tools. Here is what we check first on every call-out.
1. A clogged air filter
Dust in Dubai builds up fast. A blocked filter starves the indoor coil of airflow, so the air feels weak and barely cool. Slide the filter out, rinse it with water, let it dry fully and refit it.
If you run the AC daily, clean filters every two to three weeks during summer.
2. Thermostat and mode settings
Make sure the unit is in Cool mode and not Fan or Dry, and that the set temperature is at least a few degrees below the room temperature. A remote left on Fan mode is one of the most common false alarms we attend.
3. Ice on the indoor coil
Ice means airflow or refrigerant trouble. Switch the unit off and let it defrost for a couple of hours. If ice returns, the gas charge or the blower needs a technician.
4. Blocked drain and water leaking
Water dripping from the indoor unit usually means a blocked drain line. Left alone it damages walls and ceilings, so it is worth clearing early during a service visit.
5. The outdoor unit
Check that the outdoor condenser is running, that nothing blocks the fan, and that the fins are not caked with dust. A hot, choked condenser cannot reject heat, so cooling drops sharply.
6. Low refrigerant gas
If the unit runs constantly, the pipes sweat and cooling is weak, the gas may be low — which almost always means a leak. Topping up without finding the leak is money wasted; we pressure-test, repair the leak, then recharge.
When to call us
